Meet the team behind GradzCulture

Dilara
is an MA student in Anglophone Popular Culture and Communication Studies who finished her bachelor's degree in April 2026. She is a huge fan of volleyball and loves playing it just as much as watching it. Besides that, she likes baking, expressing her creativity through fashion, and consuming true crime. Whether it is a podcast she listens to while getting ready or documentaries she watches – she is not easily scared by this sort of content.
Katherina
is an MA student in Anglophone Popular Culture and Communication Studies who completed her bachelor’s degree in September 2025. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, baking, reading, and going out for a drink (or two) with her friends. She loves feel-good and comfort shows and movies, especially from the 2000s, which explains why she usually prefers rewatching
Grey’s Anatomy or Mamma Mia! for the 100th time over searching for something new on Netflix.
Kathrin
is an MA student in Anglophone Popular Culture and Communications. Her BA thesis explored gender roles in romantic comedies. Beyond her studies, she enjoys travelling, journaling, taking Polaroid pictures and going out with friends. She is always planning her next trip to Paris and her go-to comfort combo is rewatching Clueless with a bowl of instant ramen.
Kristina
is a MA student in Anglophone Popular Culture and History, having completed her Bachelor’s degree in September 2025. In her free time, she enjoys staying active by going to the gym, boxing and trying all kinds of new activities. She also loves spending time with friends, experiencing new things, and meeting new people. Besides consuming social media content, she is passionate about creating her own content. And if she manages to get off that phone, you can find her rewatching her all-time favorite TV series: The Walking Dead.
Lena
is an MA student of Anglophone Popular Culture and British & Postcolonial Studies. After finishing her American Studies BA degree in the Netherlands she decided to further her studies a tiny bit closer to home (and with better train connections). While she likes watching a movie here and there, she loves the popular cultural discourse surrounding film productions even more. She also very much enjoys indulging in the latest celebrity gossip (probably too much for her own good, if we're being honest).
Mia (Sophie-Emilia)
is an MA student in American Studies and Popular Culture who completed her BA thesis in 2025. She is interested in all things queer, especially sapphic content. It does not matter whether it is a book, a series, or a movie; she will consume it. Apart from sapphic content, she also likes to indulge in anything that has to do with Greek mythology or her current favorite video game.
Nadine
is an MA student in Anglophone Popular Culture and North American Studies. Her favorite hobby is violence: watching horror movies, listening to metal music, jumping into mosh pits at concerts and training to become a Muay Thai fighter. Besides that she is always ready for a new sidequest like traveling the world or taking spontaneous concert trips.
Neele
is an MA student in Anglophone Popular Culture/ Science of Art and Transculturality. Her hobbies include museum trips, baking (her newest obsession is white monster mini cakes), reading and spending too much time on the internet. She wrote her BA Thesis on Feminist Anger in Popular Music, including a segment on the internet discourse on feminism. Her biggest academic flex is including a Pedro Pascal thirst trap edit in her BA thesis.
Sümeyye
is an MA student specialising in British and Postcolonial Studies and Popular Culture. She loves memes, superheroes, books, crocheting, and playing on her Nintendo consoles (Switch and 3DS!).She believes that most, if not all, problems on earth are connected to colonialism and/or capitalism, and makes sure to remind you of this whenever possible.
Tina
is a BA student studying Anglophone Studies and Communication Science who has somehow managed to sneak into the MA Popular Culture course. She’s a huge bookworm who collects vintage Penguin books, an honorary Scot, and is fascinated by all things 60s and 70s. She currently lives in Duisburg but is considering moving into the TARDIS because of her ever-growing collection of books, vinyl records and flea market finds. Apart from speaking English and German, she is also fluent in sarcasm.
